For eight years now, Fortnite has continued to one-up itself with huge crossovers, and in more recent years, these collaborations have expanded to the music industry. After Fortnite launched Fortnite Festival at the end of 2023, the game’s team-ups with some of the music industry’s biggest names have not only added exciting crossovers for longtime fans, but they have also introduced these artists to a brand-new audience.
One of the newest musical heavy-hitters to get their very own Fortnite crossover is Daft Punk. The duo officially called it quits back in 2021 after 28 years of making energetic and infectious electronic hits, which is what makes this collaboration so exciting. Called “The Daft Punk Experience,” this crossover will be an interactive event centered around the duo’s music, and as thrilling as it is, both longtime fans and those new to Daft Punk’s songs will want to keep their expectations in check.
Daft Punk's Fortnite Crossover is a Celebration of the Past, Not a Promise for the Future
- The Daft Punk Experience launches on September 27 at 2PM Easter Time.
- This event will feature 31 songs from the duo’s catalog.
Epic Games has made it loud and clear that Fortnite‘s team-up with Daft Punk is merely a celebration of the band’s legacy, stating on the event’s page, “The Daft Punk Experience is an immersive music experience based on the band’s beloved music. The band is not getting back together.” Fortnite is no stranger to major in-game music events, but The Daft Punk Experience is being teased as one of the biggest collaborations with an artist yet.
Fortnite‘s Daft Punk crossover will include TB3 and GM08 skins, cosmetics, instruments, and a “Get Lucky” Jam Track for Fortnite Festival.
It seems as though Fortnite has been ramping up its music collaborations in general. Last month, Fortnite added the Gorillaz, and now that Daft Punk is about to be part of the equation, Epic Games is packing a one-two punch for music lovers who grew up in the early 2000s. These collaborations and events are also great ways to introduce artists like Daft Punk and the Gorillaz to an entirely new generation.
However, for those learning about Daft Punk for the first time, it may be disappointing to find out that the band has been defunct for four years. On the flip side, longtime Daft Punk lovers may find themselves just as let down to discover that The Daft Punk Experience isn’t being used as a stage to release new music. Fortnite would undoubtedly be a great stage to do so, but the duo has made it very clear in the past that their work is done.

The Daft Punk Experience will allow players to remix Daft Punk songs, party and dance at the Daft Club, and create unique Lego music videos.
After Daft Punk, Fortnite May Have a High Bar to Reach
The Daft Punk Experience is being teased as something huge, and with all the interesting features being included in the event, it’s easy to see why. Once the event launches, it will be exciting to see how Fortnite fans respond to the crossover, even if there isn’t new music present. It will also be intriguing to see how Fortnite plans on one-upping the event in the future.
On the bright side, Daft Punk has nearly three decades worth of fantastic albums to dive into. Whether it’s “Discovery,” “Random Access Memories,” or even the Tron: Legacy soundtrack, Daft Punk has cemented itself as one of the most important bands of the 21st century, even if they are no longer making new music.
